2020/2021 SCAC Grants Awarded

The SCAC grants review panel met Friday, August 21st at the Historic Sanford Welcome Center for review of the 7 applications received for FY 2020-21.  Applications were judged on a points criteria in 4 grant categories: Cultural/Historical Organization, Education/Educational Outreach, Community Outreach, or Individual. 
 
The following awards will be mailed to recipients at the start of our new fiscal year on October 1, 2020:
 
    Central Florida Community Arts for "In-School Arts Programs for Seminole County Schools"
    Florida Sculpture Guild for the "re-Vision" Program
    Jonathan May Foundation for "Seminole County Student Scholarship Program"
    Love Your Shorts Film Festival for the 2021 Love Your Shorts Film Festival
    Saint Johns River Festival of the Arts  for the "Art for Kids" Program
    Seniors for a Better Community for the "Virtually Young At Art" Program
    Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center  for the "Jr. Repertory Company"

Congrats to all grant recipients and thank you to all of our supporters who make this process possible and the volunteers who review these grants each year.

Seminole Cultural Arts Council (SCAC) 2020 Membership and Community Meeting
 
     You are invited to join the Seminole Cultural Arts Council (SCAC) for our annual community meeting on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 5:00 pm at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center & Historic Ritz Theater, 201 S. Magnolia in Sanford.  A social distance separation for seating will be maintained, and all attendees are required to wear a mask or other face covering. No RSVP is necessary and it is free and open to the public. 
     There will be a brief installation of  the Board of Directors and Executive Committee:  Commissioner Anthony Aramendia (President);  Mary Blake;  Commissioner Bob Dallari;  Josie Foranoce (Secretary);  Charles Holcomb;  Melanie Mucario, Esq.;  Saulius Jankauskas, MD (Vice President);  Steve Nelson (Treasurer);  Abby Sanchez, School Board;  Bonnie Sprung;  Stephen Summers Ph.D.; and Kathryn Townsend.
     We will also be introducing honored guests including elected officials, Artist of the Year Award recipients, winners of the heART for the ARTS Award, art & culture partners, and the recipients of our FY 2020-21 grants.
