SCAC Summer 2026 Internship Program

Internship Details

The Seminole Cultural Arts Council is offering two internship opportunities for Summer 2026, including the Art in Public Places Internship and the Marketing Internship. These unpaid positions are open to high school and college students ages 15 and up, with applicants under 18 required to have parental permission. SCPS Students may be able to receive credit through the district's internship program.

​The program runs for ten weeks from Friday, May 29, 2026 through August 7, 2026, and requires a commitment of 15 hours per week. The internships are flexible, with a minimum of five hours completed at the SCAC office in Sanford and the remaining hours able to be worked remotely. We will work with your schedule!

🎨 SCAC Art in Public Places Internship
​(Internship Opportunity #1)


Location: Seminole Cultural Arts Council (SCAC) – Historic Sanford Welcome Center,
230 E 1st Street, Sanford, FL
Hours: Flexible (we’ll work with your schedule!)


📋 About the Internship:
Join the Seminole Cultural Arts Council (SCAC) and be part of a team that brings art to public spaces and promotes local artists and events across Seminole County! This unpaid internship is a great opportunity for a creative and organized high school student who wants hands-on experience in arts administration and event planning.


💼 What You’ll Do:
As an Art in Public Places Intern, you’ll help out with:
  • 📅 Gathering and organizing arts & cultural events for SCAC’s public event calendar
  • 📁 Creating and updating a yearly list of arts and culture events in Seminole County
  • 🖼 Helping update and grow the Seminole County Artist’s Registry (a list of local artists and their info)
  • 🔦 Providing support at public art events, such as helping with set-up, directions, and materials
  • 📄 Helping out at the SCAC office with small projects and tasks as needed


📚 What You’ll Learn:
  • How to plan and promote public arts programs
  • How to organize community resources and artist info
  • What it’s like to work in a nonprofit arts organization
  • Skills in research, communication, and event support


✅ Requirements:​
  • Interest in writing, design, social media, or the arts
  • Willing to learn and be a team player
  • Friendly attitude and good communication skills


✨ Bonus Skills (not required but great to have):
  • Comfortable using MS Office, Dropbox, Google Docs, Sheets, or basic computer programs
  • Enjoy talking to people and finding cool community events
  • Interested in event planning or arts admin

🎨 SCAC Public Relations/Marketing Internship

Join the Seminole Cultural Arts Council (SCAC) and be part of a team that supports and promotes the arts in Seminole County! This internship is perfect for a high school student who is creative, organized, and interested in writing, design, social media, or marketing. You’ll get real-world experience and have fun helping with arts and culture projects in your community.


💼 What You’ll Do:
As a Public Relations/Marketing Intern, your responsibilities may include:
  • ✍️ Help write articles for SCAC’s monthly newsletter
  • 💬 Create fun and engaging content for SCAC’s social media pages (like Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube)
  • 🌐 Support updates and content for the SCAC website
  • 🖨 Design flyers and handouts for SCAC events
  • 🎨 Create logos and graphics for SCAC’s special programs
  • 🤝 Assist SCAC staff at the office when needed (this could include organizing, setting up for events, or helping with arts projects)


📚 What You’ll Learn:
  • Real-world skills in marketing and public relations
  • How to use design tools and write for an audience
  • What it’s like to work in a nonprofit arts organization
  • How to be part of a creative team and make an impact in your community


✅ Requirements:
  • Interest in writing, design, social media, or the arts
  • Willing to learn and be a team player
  • Friendly attitude and good communication skills


✨ Bonus Skills (not required but great to have):
  • Experience with Canva or other design tools
  • Comfortable with social media platforms
  • Interest in local arts and culture
